Appointments

Booking Urgent Appointments

To book an urgent appointment (or same day appointment), please call the surgery at 8am. To ensure that you are booked the most appropriate appointment in the most appropriate time frame, the receptionist will ask you some questions regarding the reason for your appointment. They can also decide whether a longer appointment would be more appropriate for you.

A normal appointment with a GP is 10 minutes and this is to discuss 1 issue – this ensures that the doctor has sufficient time to obtain a history of the issue, make a diagnosis and recommend treatment or refer you to the appropriate secondary care team for further investigation.

Booking Non-Urgent or Routine Appointments

If you need to see a clinician for a non-urgent reason, you may book an appointment up to two weeks in advance. You may opt to be seen by any one of the clinicians in the team but the receptionist will be able to offer you alternative clinicians if deemed appropriate.

Cancelling Appointments

If you cannot keep an appointment, please inform the Practice immediately, otherwise you will waste an appointment that someone else could benefit from.

Telephone Appointments

We offer telephone consultations everyday with our duty GP for less complex matters which can be dealt with in a shorter appointment. We try to provide appointments on the same day for patients that request this. You can book your appointment by phone or online. This may include an extension to a Fit Note for your employer which would not necessarily need a face to face appointment.

Although appointments are allocated by time, this does not always mean that you will be seen at that time, since it is not possible to predict a previous patient’s medical needs. We will do our best to keep you updated of any delays whilst you are waiting to be seen.
